![]() Information I have cultivated my current style of massage since 1981. Careful observation and years of experience have resulted in a finely tuned style for assisting clients with pain management and relaxation. I have discovered that for most people, change takes place slowly over a period of time. This is true for physical change as well as emotional or psychological change. As a result of this awareness, my style of approaching massage work begins with careful assessment. This process allows the person receiving the massage to undertake his or her own exploration, which leads to a greater sense of consciousness. We begin each session Choice about change occurs as a natural result of increased awareness, and as this occurs, the physical body actually becomes more ready for change. My style of massage is based on respect for each individual's process. Patience and persistence, not force, are my primary tools. We begin each session clarifying what you want and need, using that information to shape the direction of the session. As muscles relax and changes occur in the body, some reconstruction may be experienced on an emotional or physical level. This can be experienced as discomfort. Sometimes sensations are regained in areas of the body that have been numbed or shut down by chronic muscle tightness or spasms. These experiences are a natural part of the process. Even freedom of movement can seem awkward until you are reaccustomed to it. Another important aspect of my work is collaboration with the client to create an environment of safety and trust. This supportive environment allows relaxation, new experiences, and self discovery. The safety of containment allows for a deeper personal experience. I am present and attentive to each person's safety needs as a necessary step towards building an environment of safety and trust over time. The process of relaxation and self discovery cannot be rushed; instead, it is allowed to unfold. I am available if you would like to discuss questions, observations or curiosities with me.
